Physician Frances Horn, DO, began her medical career as a nurse. Inspired by the physicians around her, she later returned to college and became a physician herself, caring for patients in Oklahoma and Kentucky.
Now, more than two decades later, she has returned to Bartlesville to work at the CHC/OK-Bartlesville clinic. The clinic provides primary healthcare, including women’s health, Family Medicine and Internal Medicine and offers discounted sliding scale fees for services based on family size and income level.
Dr. Horn can trace her interest in medicine back to the fifth grade, when she would check the blood pressure for anyone who asked. She became a nurse aide at 15 and a licensed practical nurse by age 18.
Later, she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University and became certified by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). Dr. Horn specializes in comprehensive health care for adults focusing on preventative care with routine checkups, tests, and personalized coaching on maintaining a healthy lifestyle for adults. She has worked in private practice, as a hospitalist, and served in numerous clinical leadership positions.
Her connections to Oklahoma and Bartlesville run deep. She attended Bartlesville Wesleyan College, Rogers State College in Claremore, as well as Oklahoma State University where she received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, and finally completed her post-graduate Family Medicine Residency at the University of Oklahoma in 1999.
“As I’m getting closer to retirement, and I wanted to do something that I feel really matters, such as the mission and work CHC/OK does,” Dr. Horn said. “I’m happy to be back in Oklahoma.”
She has a particular passion for caring for those with diabetes. “My family is riddled with it, and it is such a treatable disease if you educate the patient.” Outside of work, Dr. Horn is an avid quilter.
