Residency Programs
CHC/SEK is tackling the rural healthcare workforce shortage head-on through partnerships with universities. Our residency programs aim to cultivate a new generation of healthcare professionals who are dedicated to serving rural communities.
KU-CHC/SEK Rural Family Medicine Residency Program
The rural family medicine residency is a collaborative initiative between the University Of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) in Kansas City, Kansas, and the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas (CHC/SEK) in Pittsburg, Kansas.
This residency experience is the best of two worlds; urban and rural. The PGY1 residents will complete three rotations at the KU academic medical center in Kansas City, Kansas. The experiences in an academic institution provide an opportunity for high volume exposure to solidify skills for rural practice.
Community-Based Pharmacy Residency
The Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas (CHC/SEK) Pharmacy Residency provides comprehensive training within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Residents gain hands-on experience at Apothecare – North Pittsburg, a high-volume community pharmacy dispensing over 3,000 prescriptions weekly. Training also includes time at the John U. Parolo Education Center and Apothecare Select, our specialty pharmacy in downtown Pittsburg.
Throughout the program, residents develop strong clinical and leadership skills while gaining a thorough understanding of the 340B program and its role in expanding patient access to care.
