Digital X-rays are commonly used to diagnose and monitor:

What to expect:
- Preparation: You’ll remove metal items like jewelry or belts, and you may change into a gown if your clothing contains metal.
- Positioning: The technologist will position you–sitting, standing, or lying down–depending on the area being imaged.
- During the X-ray: You’ll stay still for a few seconds while each image is taken, and you may briefly hold your breath for chest images. The exam is painless.
- Multiple images: Most exams include 2-3 views, and you may change positions between them. Each image takes only seconds.
