October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — a time to celebrate the lives of those affected by breast cancer, honor those we have lost and recognize the power of early detection. Taking care of your health matters, and screening mammograms are an important part of that journey. Mammograms can often detect changes in breast tissue early, sometimes even before you might notice anything yourself.
We encourage you to get to know your body. Pay attention to how your breasts normally look and feel, and don’t hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider if you notice any changes. Your concerns are always worth exploring.
Making Screening Accessible to You
The Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas (CHC/SEK) believes that every woman deserves access to quality breast cancer screening. If you’re between 40 and 74, we encourage you to get an annual screening.
We know life is busy, that’s why we’ve made it simple for you to get screened. Walk-in mammograms are available year-round — no appointment needed, though you’re welcome to call ahead. We’re open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at:
