April Lemon, CHC/SEK Director of Behavioral Health, has been named a winner of the 2024–2025 Margo Award for Excellence in MSW Advanced Year Practicum Instruction by the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare.
She was selected from a pool of more than 50 nominees for her exceptional contributions to practicum education, particularly in her work with KU MSW students. The Margo Award is named in honor of Margaret Schutz Gordon, former Director of Practicum Education at KUSSW, and is given to social work educators who exemplify her legacy of excellence.
Since stepping into the role of Director of Behavioral Health, April has been an incredible force—not only within her department but also to the Clinical Education team. What truly sets April apart is her commitment to cultivating future social workers. She builds strong, meaningful connections with students and ensures they have high-quality, hands-on learning experiences.
In addition to the award, April will be featured on KU’s School of Social Welfare website, where statements from her nomination will be shared.
