Kelly Pulliam named as honoree for 2025 Women of Distinction

Kelly Pulliam, programs manager at Building Health Inc., has been named one of twelve Women of Distinction for 2025 by the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce. Building Health is a subsidiary of Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas.

Each year, the Chamber accepts nominations from the community to recognize area women who lead by example, using their time and talents to benefit the Pittsburg area.

Kelly joined CHC/SEK in 2023, having previously worked at Wesley House as a case manager for eight years working with the homeless community.

“For years, Kelly has been the backbone of the southeast Kansas regional CoC, (Continuum of Care) a group of all service providers, advocates, local government officials, and citizens who meet weekly working to get people out of homelessness,” says Becky Gray, Executive Director of Building Health Inc.

Although she has had a long-standing commitment to helping others, being chosen for the award came as a surprise for Kelly.

“I’ve always been in the helping world,” Kelly says. “I earned my degree in psychology with an emphasis in developmental disabilities from Pitt State and worked for a law firm that focused on assisting disabled persons. From there, I went to Catholic Charities for three years as a family support specialist providing relationship education before moving to Wesley House and then here to CHC/SEK.”

Kelly says she is flattered to be recognized; however, her work comes with its own rewards. She says, “I think the most satisfying thing about the different things I do is helping people. When someone succeeds, they rise up, and that really means a lot to me.”
