Area agencies help seniors with digital literacy

Your Grandma has a cell phone. Here’s how you can help her and other seniors with digital literacy.

TechWise is a public awareness campaign aimed at improving the digital literacy of Southeast Kansas seniors.

The campaign, launched by the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center – Greenbush, includes print, online, and video content designed to meet the needs of citizens over 55 with varying levels of comfort and understanding about the vast array of technologies that drive day-to-day life.

The Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas is joining Greenbush, the SEK area on Aging, and the Southeast Kansas Library System in providing easy-to-use and shareable content is designed to assist older adults and their families in becoming more familiar with and safe in a system that didn’t exist when they were born or even when some were in the workforce.

Staff at Greenbush have been working with community partners by gathering real-life scenarios to drive meaningful content creation and to develop distribution methods that meet the needs of older adults from all lifestyles. The significant focus areas are communicating, transacting, creating, and socializing –– all while promoting security.

Resources will roll out each month for the next year and can be found:
