Emily Lenherr, MD, joins CHC/SEK

Originally from the rural community of Windom, Kansas, Dr. Emily Lenherr came to southeast Kansas during medical school and decided to return.

“I just loved the people and the mission of the clinic, so I knew it was something that I wanted to do,” she said. “When I came here during medical school, I really enjoyed my time here, I really wanted to come back.”

That facility was the Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas.

She officially joined CHC/SEK on Sept. 23 where she now provides care at the Bryant Student Health Center and the CHC/SEK’s Pittsburg North clinic.

Specializing in sports medicine, Lenherr recently completed a Sports Medicine Primary Care Fellowship at Full Circle Health in Boise, Idaho.

“I really enjoyed sports, and I’ve played volleyball my whole life and coached volleyball in medical school as well,” she said, adding that this fueled her interest in studying sports medicine and orthopedics.

Lenherr completed her residency at the St. Mary’s Family Medicine Residency in Grand Junction, Colorado. She went to medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Salina and studied neurobiology at the University of Kansas prior.

Lenherr has also received many awards and accolades for her service and leadership in the communities and educational facilities she served.

Outside of medicine, Lenherr and her husband like to travel. They recently came back from visiting Thailand, Cambodia and Singapore. They do just about any outdoor activity, she says, adding that she’s looking forward to mountain biking in Bentonville, Arkansas, and traveling around the Ozarks.
